Meta's Muse Crosses 500,000 Users in a Week -- Outpacing ChatGPT's Early Mobile Launch

More than 250,000 daily active users and 2 million-plus prompts in Muse's first week, per internal data -- Meta's personal AI agent is reportedly growing faster in the US and Canada than ChatGPT did at the same stage of its own mobile debut.

Meta introduced Muse, billed as "the world's first personal AI agent built for everyone," on September 8, 2026. About a week later, more than 500,000 people had tried it, including over 250,000 daily active users, with more than 2 million prompts submitted in that first week -- according to internal data reviewed by The Information.

The comparison point driving the coverage: Muse has reportedly racked up more downloads and daily active users in the US and Canada over its first week than ChatGPT did at the equivalent stage of its own mobile app launch -- notable given ChatGPT's early mobile growth was itself considered unusually fast at the time it happened.

Muse is a personal-task and organization-focused agent, launched with $20 and $100 pricing tiers, and is a distinct product from Meta AI, the assistant already baked into WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook that separately crossed 1 billion monthly active users last year -- Muse is an opt-in, paid agent product layered on top, not a rebrand of that existing surface.

Muse's first-week numbers (500k users, 250k+ DAU, 2M+ prompts) are a genuinely fast start by the ChatGPT-mobile-launch yardstick being used to measure it -- but a week of novelty-driven trial doesn't yet say anything about retention; the number worth checking next is week-4 or week-8 DAU, not week-1.
